Managing Your eRecruiter FAQ

Helping Volunteers Help Themselves

If you’re running a volunteer program at a hospital, a school, or a park, you probably find yourself answering the same handful of questions over and over again. "Where do I park?" "What should I wear on my first day?" "How do I log my hours?" Every minute you spend retyping those answers is a minute taken away from your actual mission. That’s why we built the FAQ feature. It allows you to build a dedicated, categorized help center directly on your eRecruiter. Your vols get the immediate answers they need, your internal support load drops, and best of all—you don't need a computer science degree to update it in real-time.

Step 1: Finding Your FAQ Workbench

We’ve kept the setup straightforward so any coordinator or admin can jump in and make tweaks on the fly.

  1. Go to Administrative Options in your top menu.
  2. Select the FAQ tab.

Step 2: Organizing Your Questions

Before you start typing, think about how you want to structure your answers. You have two ways to add content:

  • Ad Hoc Questions: These are standalone questions that don't quite fit into a larger category (e.g., "Who do I call if I’m running late today?"). Click the ADD button to the right of List of Questions to add an ad hoc question.
  • FAQ Groups: This is the best way to keep your page tidy. You can create broad categories like "Getting Started," "Health & Safety," or "Parking & Logistics." To build a group: Click the Add button to the right of FAQ Groups to create the group name. Once the group is created, simply click on the group name, and you can begin adding individual questions inside that specific category.

Step 3: Writing and Formatting Your Answers

When you add or edit a question, you'll see two main fields: the Question and the Answer.

We know that a wall of plain text can be hard to read, so we’ve included a full formatting interface for the answer box. Just like your favorite word processor or email tool, you can use this bar to:

  • Bold important details (like deadlines or room numbers).
  • Add italics or bulleted lists for easy scanning.
  • Insert hyperlinks to external maps, orientation videos, or training documents.

Once everything looks right, hit save.

Because we want your eRecruiter page to run quickly and smoothly for your volunteers, the system takes a brief moment to bundle up your changes and push them live.

Don't Panic: Once you save your new FAQ entries in eC, it may take up to 10 minutes for those updates to display on your public website. If you refresh your eRecruiter page immediately and don't see your changes, check back in a few minutes.
